The Student

By: Verity Rabin

What is required of me?

Do I meet expectations?

If I study hard, I get a degree;

 who cares if I have reservations.

I’ll be what they want,

 no true thoughts will escape my throat.

 Always 12 point Times New Roman font

 I have taken an oath

 I’ll speak when I’m told

 turn it in on time

 I’ll earn stars of gold

 for I’m young and in my prime

How can I “be more”

 I have nothing left to give

 A perfect mold of a scholar

 my grades will outlive.
