End of the Line

I met a man named Tom when walking along the bay one day.

He said boy, this place is way finer than LA.

No wonder this is where the line ended.

I said, what did you mean by that, Tom?

Son, this place is where my soul mended.

I grew a bit too big for the swamp.

I was tired of the road being my career,

And I wanted a bit of a romp.

The bus to take me all the way here,

I said just take me to the end of the line.

This is Tom’s story, he never backed down.

They called me mature when I was younger, now I’m just a child.

Not ready to take the world on, I’m too brash and far past wild.

But I’ve been seeking wonder in just about everything for far too long.

And I’ve been shaking the foundations for nothing to be wrong.

But It’ll all be alright at the end of the line.

Just take me to the end of the line.

What once was will be forever mine.

Just take me to the end of the line.

The dogs are howling now, I think they’ve got a scent,

of that feeling we’re all looking for; freedom, heaven sent.

Take my hounds to heaven, there’s something orange in the sky,

That keeps me gazing to the stars, and keep on asking why,

we call the leaders bold, Is it just because they have the strength to not do what they’re told?

The bells still toll for the young and the old, another bought, two others sold.

But It’ll all be alright at the end of the line.

Just take me to the end of the line.

Well I know, it’ll be a little bit of time.

Just take me to the end of the line.

Virginia took my heart, no wonder it’s made for lovers.

Took all my dreams and wrapped them under covers.

As I lie asleep I keep warm from their ambition,

When this frosty world still prevents their fruition.

Gulf stream waters and alabaster waves,

Have brought me an understanding, my church staves

The framework for my wandering, never out of place.

But It’ll all be alright at the end of the line.

Just take me to the end of the line.

What once was will be forever mine.

Just take me to the end of the line.

But I’ve been keeping pace with my life’s new expectations.

And I’ve been making peace with all of my hesitations.

The things that stay constant are that love will renew,

And the ever-present feeling that I’m just passing through,

Every place I’ve been and every place I wanna go.

Sable and silver, green and gold,

Never have I ever seen eyes so bold.

Don’t worry, it’ll all be fine at the end of the line.

Just take me to the end of the line.

end of the line.
