The Darkness
Beneath the weight of endless gray,
the world is fading day by day,
a quiet ache that never seems to leave,
a sorrow carried in the breeze,
trees once green once bowed with pain,
their leaves are now shattered, gone with rain.
the sky, a cloak of heavy mist,
a silence deep, too cold to resist,
the hours crawl, each one seeming the same,
a hollow heart without a name.
hope feels distant, like a dream,
that flickers out and starts to scream.
alone, I stand in fading light,
the stars above me, too far, too bright.
and though I reach, I cannot touch, the darkness has consumed too much,
I let it grow, I let it take over,
I will never fall into the darkness again,
if you feel this way, it is okay,
you will get better, I promise you.
